If you are taking regular medication the doctor may decide to authorise repeat prescriptions. You will usually be given a repeat request slip during consultation.
Please allow 48hours for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account. Prescriptions brought in on a Friday will be ready for collection the following Tuesday.
Any requests submitted using hospital outpatient prescription requests will also need 48hours to process.
Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in a number of ways:
- In person - place your request in the prescription box inside the surgery having clearly marked the items required;
- By post - send it to us with a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you;
- Online - follow the link at the bottom of this page and complete a simple one-off registration
PLEASE NOTE: We do not accept telephone request for prescription as this can lead to dangerous mistakes. Exceptions for housebound patients & emergency situation!
Electronic Prescribing Service (EPS)
We now offer an Electronic Prescribing Service. The Electronic Prescribing Service enables prescribers such as GP’s and Practice Nurses to send prescriptions electronically to a dispenser such as a pharmacy of the patients’ choice. This makes the prescribing and dispensing process more efficient and convenient for patients and staff.
If you are interested in this service, please enquire at your local pharmacy if they use EPS. There is no charge.
You can now order your repeat medication online. If you have not yet registered, it is a quick and easy process and need only be done once.
